In only a few days of filming, Daniel Woods crushed the boulders in Moe’s Valley! We were there to capture all the action, including a few V13 first ascents (Magic Touch and Escape Artist Low)! Moe’s Valley is a great sandstone bouldering area right outside of St. George, Utah. Only a few hours north of Vegas and a few hours south of Salt Lake. If you’re passing through on I-15, be sure to make some time to check it out! Or if you’re bouldering at Joe’s Valley and get snowed out, Moe’s will most likely have great conditions. The rock quality is some of the best I’ve seen and there are a range of problems for every ability. Here are a few screen shots from Daniel’s segment in The Players. Be sure to check out the DVD, available at

The time has come. The Players is my latest film, featuring all of the major players in American rock climbing. Chris Sharma, Dave Graham, Lisa Rands, Ethan Pringle, Emily Harrington, Daniel Woods, Joe Kinder, Alex Puccio, and Chris Lindner. Last week, I recieved the finished product from the replicator and shipped out all Pre-Orders. Marc Russo did an amazing job with all the packaging art work! What a great feeling to finally hold these DVD’s in my hands after two years of hard work!

To give everyone a better idea of what to expect in the film, I’ll be posting more trip reports, detailed segment stories, and clips in the next few weeks. Thanks again to the film sponsors Evolve, Smith Optics, Deadpoint Mag, The Spot, and Slopony Adventures. If you have not already, check out the trailer below or watch it on Vimeo in HD!

Check out the commercial we recently produced for our latest partner Deadpoint Magazine! Footage from The Players and Spray. Beats and voiceover by O-Dub. We’ll be working with the guys at Deadpoint Magazine to promote The Players. Their new HD video player is great and will have the first look at the official “The Players” trailer (coming next week). Check them out at for news, videos, and a FREE online magazine.

We’re putting the finishing touches on our new film The Players.  I’ve been working on Alex Puccio’s segment all day and am really psyched on how it’s coming together! Alex continues to forge her own way and push the standards of female bouldering. I shot her on the first female ascent of Trice V12 at Flagstaff Mountain, Co.

Soon after, Alex headed down to Hueco Tanks in Texas for a short getaway. Our cameras were there to document this trip. Alex didn’t waste any time, giving really solid attempts at Slashface V13. Although she was unsuccessful this trip, she was able to do all the moves except for one. In only 30 min of working the problem!

On the last day of the trip, Alex decided she wanted to return to Power of Silence V10. She had tried this problem during her last trip to Hueco and came pretty close. After numerous attempts, it all came together! Be sure to check out all the action in our new movie The Players, coming to DVD this May.

I have finally launched my new photo portfolio website over at Big thanks to Sander at Digijoi for the site design. Its great to finally showcase my photos in a visually pleasing, large format, and functional site. One great feature is that the images all resize automatically to the size of your window! Check it out, click around, and please let me know what you think!

Well the time has come. We’ve been planning this trip for several months now and tomorrow I take off for Ha Long Bay, Vietnam! The long trip there goes from Denver to LA to Taipei, to Hanoi, to Ha Long Bay! The boys at Slo Pony Adventures are going to be taking us on a deep water soloing, sport climbing, and bouldering adventure through this amazing country. I’ll be traveling with Chris Lindner and Joe Brooks, who are already over there scouting some things out.

This trip isn’t all play though. We will be shooting a story for Climbing Magazine and I’ll be shooting the first segment for my new film, The Players. We’ve been doing a lot of pre-production for The Players, but haven’t yet made any public announcments about it. All I can say now is that we’ll be shooting with the players of out sport, those who have been pushing the limits and have made a life of climbing! Pics from vietnam coming as often as I get an internet connection over there….

I will be heading to the Red River Gorge later this month to show SPRAY at Miguel’s Pizza! The show will take place on April 18th at 8:00pm, kicking off the Red River Reunion. This event is a benefit for the Red River Gorge Climbers Coalition and will hopefully raise some money to preserve access to some of the Red’s endangered cliffs. I used to spend a lot of time climbing at the Red River Gorge and I am psyched to go back. This trip will be a mix of work and play, shooting photos and climbing some classics. Jason Kehl and Dave Chancellor will be in attendance as well, presenting their slideshows on Saturday night. If you’re within a 10 hour drive, you should definitely make the trip out. I’m psyched!

Check out La Sportiva’s Website where several of my photos are being used. Check out their trail running shoes too, some of the best running/approach shoes I’ve ever had! We did a shoot last May in Eldorado Canyon with several of their athletes, shooting classic routes like The Web (5.13b) and Rainbow Wall (5.13a). Weather rolled in and it was raining by noon, so we really only had 5 hours to shoot. One of my favorite shots from the shoot is of Abbey Smith on The Web. Check it out below…

In an effort to help climbing’s popularity, we tried to get non-climbing companies involved in Spray. In addition to Smartwool and Timberland, who aren’t primarily focused on the sport of climbing, we signed Smith on as a supporting sponsor. Thanks Gabe! Chris Lindner is a Smith athlete, so the deal just made sense. They hooked us up with a bunch of product, which you’ll see featured in the film. If you came to one of the Spray World Tour shows, you may have won some Smith gear in the raffles we held too! Thanks to Smith for believing and supporting our industry. Check out their site and the small blurb about Spray…
