I am psyched to announce that BS Productions is now offering HD downloads of our latest films, via www.Bouldering.tv.  We believe the video industry is moving towards an On Demand model, where more viewers will be downloading content for instant gratification.  You can now download The Players and Spray in about an hour, then view in full High Resolution! Download times will obviously vary depending on your connection.  I have downloaded the films in as little as 30 minutes!

We’re really excited about this new distribution platform and have priced the films competitively.  The Players is only $14.99 and Spray is $9.99.  All extras are available exclusively on the DVDs. For all of our international customers, there is no longer the extra cost and long wait to watch out films. Same goes for our domestic viewers too!  Download now and enjoy!!!

Its been a while since our last post, so I thought I’d put a nice clip from The Players out for your entertainment. Check out Dave Graham on the first ascent of The Island V15. Be sure to get your eyes on the rest of the Dave Graham action, plus Chris Sharma, Alex Puccio, Daniel Woods, and more. DVD’s are available internationally available at www.BSProductions.us

In only a few days of filming, Daniel Woods crushed the boulders in Moe’s Valley! We were there to capture all the action, including a few V13 first ascents (Magic Touch and Escape Artist Low)! Moe’s Valley is a great sandstone bouldering area right outside of St. George, Utah. Only a few hours north of Vegas and a few hours south of Salt Lake. If you’re passing through on I-15, be sure to make some time to check it out! Or if you’re bouldering at Joe’s Valley and get snowed out, Moe’s will most likely have great conditions. The rock quality is some of the best I’ve seen and there are a range of problems for every ability. Here are a few screen shots from Daniel’s segment in The Players. Be sure to check out the DVD, available at www.ThePlayersMovie.com

I was psyched to have an opportunity to feature Chris Sharma in our latest DVD release “The Players.” For the concept of the film to work, I knew I had to line up the true players in the sport of climbing. since there are so many badasses in our sport, I chose to focus on American climbers. Chris Sharma leads the pack by adding visionary new routes to every area he visits, as well as quickly repeating the area test pieces. Pick up your copy of the DVD today at www.ThePlayersMovie.com

Sharma’s segment of the film is set in the Southeast US, sport climbing on some of the best sandstone in the world.  First stop on his southeastern tour was the Red River Gorge in Kentucky. In my opinion, this is the premier sport climbing grag in the country. With high quality routes for every level climber and tons of undeveloped crags, it offers a lifetime of climbing. Seriously!

Picture 7

Known for its enduro routes, recent development has changed this stigma. Every sport climber should plan a trip to The Red and definitely grab a pizza at Miguels while you’re at it!

Picture 3

Chris had his eyes on some futuristic blank walls. The potential for new routes seems never ending. While Chris did not complete his projects, he did quickly complete the second ascent of Lucifer 5.14c on his second try!

Picture 1

After The Red, the next stop was the breathtakingly beautiful New River Gorge in West Virginia. Chris was there to present a slideshow at the Deadpoint Magazine launch party, but made some time to check out the bullet sandstone too!

Picture 5

Once again, first on Chris’ list was to check out a long standing project. This blank vertical wall climbs small crimps up bullet sandstone, much like the rock at Mt. Araplies or the Grampians in Australia. The route finishes with a crux dyno off a small crimp. After figuring out the move, Chris gave it one last attempt for the day, fell on the crux, and moves on to other routes. Since this was such a short trip, he wanted to make some time to check out other walls in the area too!

After attempting the project and doing some onsighting, Chris eyed a 5.14 called Proper Soul originally put up by Chris Lindner. Sharma went for it onsight and effortlessly cruised to the top. Check out all the beautiful footage in The Players, available on DVD at www.ThePlayersMovie.com for only $29.95.

We started shooting Daniel Woods’ segment of The Players in Boulder Canyon, Colorado. The plan was to shoot the whole segment in Boulder Canyon.  Daniel would repeat all the canyon’s hardest problems, plus attempt to send a long standing project! We were psyched, but the weather in Boulder was getting too warm for hard granite bouldering. After shooting for one day and nailing killer footage of Free Range v12, Daniel decided he wanted to head out to Southern Utah with the rest of his crew!

A few days later, I packed up my car and headed out there as well. You can see footage of all the action that went down in Southern Utah in The Players, now available on DVD at www.ThePlayersMovie.com. For now, here’s the footage of Daniel on Free Range that did not make the cut into the final film. Enjoy!

I’ve been getting a lot of questions about the music in The Players. We’re not releasing an official soundtrack CD, however, encouraging all of you to support the artists and buy your favorite tracks. I’ve always put a lot of effort towards assembling a killer soundtrack.  With The Players, we tracked down a bunch of unreleased tracks to bring a totally fresh sound to the film. Thanks to Chad Davis from Triple 9 Music and Bodie Johnson at Johnson & Kennemer for the music supervision.

I’m working on putting together an iMix on iTunes, including all the tracks that are available on iTunes. That’ll be posted on the blog soon. In the meantime, be sure to pick up a copy of the dvd HERE and hear all the music in the film! Here’s a list of the featured tracks…

“The Players” by O-Dub (Unreleased)

If you haven’t checked out O-Dub’s music, you’ve been missing out. Ever since he hit the climbing scene, he’s been shaking things up with his catchy, smooth, and sometimes contraversal music. His passion for climbing and devotion to his art definitely shows!  I had always wanted to incorperate O-dub’s music into my films. Last year, I used an O-Dub track called “Accept It” in Spray.  With The Players, I was really psyched to take it one step further and incorperate some original music into the soundtrack! O-Dub was psyched too! He quickly wrote, recorded, and mastered the movie’s theme song, which plays during the film’s credits. The song is all about the climbers featured in the film and what makes them “players”. Chris Sharma, Dave Graham, Daniel Woods, Lisa Rands, Emily Harrington, Chris Lindner, Alex Puccio, Joe Kinder, and Ethan Pringle! You can download the song for free HERE!

Stay tuned to Deadpoint Magazine for a brand new O-Dub track each month!

The third in our series of The Players desktop wallpapers is now available for download HERE!  This is Alex Puccio bouldering Dead Serious (v10) in Hueco Tanks, Texas. This photo was originally shot by Andy Mann, while shooting for our film The PlayersMarc Russo adapted the image to the grafiti style for the inside DVD packaging art. Then I addapted this art into the wallpaper! Be sure to check out Alex Puccio’s segment in The Players. I shot Alex as she crushed Trice V12 on Flagstaff Mountain, Colorado.  We then followed her on a quick one week trip to Hueco, where she did numerous V10’s, including Dead Serious and Power of Silence! Alex also put a really strong effort into Slashface V13, doing all the moves except for one! Help support our productions and pick up your copy of The Players today at www.BSProductions.us

The second wallpaper in my series from The Players is of Joe Kinder on Ghostdance V6 at the Millenium Boulder in Colorado. This boulder problem was not featured in the film, however, its graphic nature worked well for the grafiti style DVD cover and artwork. The photo, originally shot for the cover of Urban Climber, was applied to the 3d brickwall by using a combination of techniques in Illustrator, Photoshop, and Maya. This gave us a full 3d model of the wall for the films opening motion graphics. We then could apply different lighting affects and see how it looked on the wall. Maya is a pretty amazing program. Thanks to Marc Russo for graphics skills! I’ve taken the films cover art and adapted it into a downloadable desktop wallpaper. More wallpapers coming soon!

I’ve decided to put together a series of wallpaper images from our new movie The Players.  CLICK HERE to download the first image of Chris Sharma on Lucifer 5.14c!  This is one of the hardest sport routes at the Red River Gorge in Kentucky.  Sharma redpointed the route second try and our cameras were there to capture the ascent. In our latest film The Players, you can follow Sharma on a trip through the beautiful sandstone of the Southeast. The segment features 5.14c redpoints, 5.14a onsights, and hard undone projects at The Red and the New River Gorge, WV. The Players is now available on DVD at www.ThePlayersMovie.com
